A new Award for KUIMS from KNTO
KUIMS has been recognized with an award from the the Korean National Tourism Organization for our efforts to promote Korean Medical Services in 2009!
We are the only hospital to be recognized by KHIDI and the KNTO as a leader in the field of international healthcare.
We hope to have continued success in the new year.

Medical Travel in the News
An Interesting Article talking about the potential of Medical Travel in the US. We hope that Korea will be mentioned in articles like this in the near future.
In Korea, there are already two JCI accredited hospitals and soon the Korean Health Industry Development Institute will adjust its review process to meet many of the JCI standards.

Kuims is happy to announce that we have signed an agreement to cooperate with KORPUS in the Promotion of our Center in Far Eastern Russia. The President of KORPUS, Mr. Boris Levashko, visited our center on Friday, December 18th to sign the agreement.
We look forward to working with Korpus in the new year!
Kyung Hee University marked its 60th anniversary in May 2009. For the past 60 years, our university has endeavored to spread the founding principals of “Creating a Cultural World”. This is done through the creative fusion of research, education and practice on our three campuses. We have a faculty of nearly 3000 professors working with 20 000 undergraduates and 3000 post graduate students. We are an international university with over 2 500 foreign students enrolled in our 23 colleges.

Since it was established in 1965, Kyung Hee University College of Medicine (KUMC) has devoted itself to the twin tasks of eradicating all diseases and educating the nation's next generation of medical experts. Throughout the years, the field of medicine has experienced the profound changes that have yielded the sophisticated innovations in both medical techniques and processes. To keep pace with these changes, the college has been leading the nation's medical field by advancing knowledge through research in biomedical oriented studies.
To become a medical doctor, a graduate awarded the M.D. must pass the National Medical Board Examination to receive his/her license. With the license, the graduate can enter an internship. After the internship, they can apply for the clinical specialty training program in an accredited hospital. Graduates may enter a graduate school to obtain a master's and then doctoral degree in basic and clinical sciences. Through the programs, the opportunity will be provided for them to gain a comprehensive understanding and to do research in basic and clinical sciences.

Why Did We Start a Blog?
Our center is an interesting place. We have over three thousand patients pass through our doors everyday looking for all sorts of medical assistance. The Korean name of our hospital is 경희대학교 동서신의학병원 or Kyung Hee University's East West Neo Medical Center. A long name with a story.
The name of our center was chosen by our university's founder, Dr. In won Choue. He wanted our hospital's name to reflect his vision of our center, a hospital that combines the advantages of Modern Western Medicine and traditional Korean Medicine. This was not an easy task even with Kyung Hee University's experience in both the teaching and practice of Modern Medicine and Traditional Korean Medicine. It required an unprecedented level of cooperation from medical professionals from both fields to make it a reality.
Thanks to the three decades of experience at our sister institute Kyung Hee Medical Center , our center had a strong foundation of experienced staff and adminstrators to build from.
In June 2006, under the direction of our center's first president, Dr. Myung Chul Yoo, we became the first university hospital in Korea to practice integrative medicine. It was a new and exciting concept and our hospital began accepting visitors from around the world who were curious about our new medical system.
We have had visitors from the largest hospitals in the US to the smallest clinics in Vietnam come to investigate our system. We have had doctors come for fellowship programs from India and Russia to learn new techniques and to share expertise. We have had patients visit from all over Asia to get treatment for minor to the most major ailments.
We hope to share our progress with you here on this blog and detail our exciting journey. Please check in regularly and we will do our best to keep you posted.

Kyung Hee University's International Medical Service
We are getting ready for the Christmas Season. We have had an exciting 2009 and we were able to meet many of the goals we had set for ourselves. Our staff has doubled and we expect to grow next year as the demands for our services grow. We are now happy to offer our patients services in Korean, English, Russian, Japanese, and Chinese.
We traveled to several countries in 2009 to promote our hospital. We visitied the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Japan, Russia (twice), and Indonesia. Thanks to these visits, we were able to sign MOUs and agreements with several new partner intitutions.
We will expand our network in 2010 and are looking forward to providing medical services to a wider range of patients in the new year. please follow our blog to stay updated on our progress
